At 12: 52 on September 5, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. After the earthquake, the Earthquake Field Team of China Seismological Bureau, the Emergency Management Department, conducted an actual earthquake damage investigation on 200 investigation points in the disaster area in accordance with "Earthquake Field Work: Investigation Specification" (GB/T 18208.3-2011) and "China Earthquake Intensity Table" (GB/T 17742-2020), and fully referred to the fault structure, instrument intensity, aftershock distribution and aftershock in the earthquake area.
The highest intensity of the Luding earthquake in Sichuan is ⅸ (9 degrees), and the major axis of the isoseismal line is NW-trending, with a major axis of 195 kilometers and a minor axis of 112 kilometers. The area of ⅵ (6 degrees) and above is 19,089 square kilometers, involving 12 counties (cities, districts) and 82 towns (streets) in 3 cities and states of Sichuan Province.
ⅸ (9 degrees) area covers an area of 280 square kilometers, mainly involving Moxi Town, Detuo Town, Yanzigou Town and Dewei Town in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture; There are 7 townships, namely Wanggangping Yi Tibetan Township, Caoke Tibetan Township and Xinmin Tibetan Yi Township in Shimian County, Ya ‘an City.
ⅷ Degree (8 degrees) area covers an area of 505 square kilometers, mainly involving Moxi Town, Yanzigou Town, Detuo Town and Dewei Town in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture; There are 7 townships, namely Wanggangping Yi Tibetan Township, Caoke Tibetan Township and Xinmin Tibetan Yi Township in Shimian County, Ya ‘an City.
The VII degree (7 degree) area covers an area of 3,608 square kilometers, mainly involving Yanzigou Town, Luqiao Town, Dewei Town, Moxi Town, Lengqi Town, Xinglong Town, Detuo Town, Boiling Dam Town, Yulin Street and Gongga Mountain Town in kangding city, Hongba Township and Wanba Town in Jiulong County. There are 27 townships (streets) in Ya ‘an, including Caoke Tibetan Township, Xieluo Tibetan Township, Anshun Town, Wanggangping Yi Tibetan Township, Fengle Township, Xinmian Street, Yingzheng Township, Meiluo Town, Xinmin Tibetan Yi Township, Yonghe Township, Yidong Town, Fuxiang Township, Qianyu Town of Hanyuan County, Niubeishan Town of Yingjing County, and Horn River Town of tianquan county.
ⅵ (6 degrees) area covers an area of 14,696 square kilometers, mainly involving 32 townships (streets) in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, 35 townships (streets) in Ya ‘an City and 9 townships in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, with a total of 76 townships (streets).
In addition, some towns and other areas located outside the VI degree (6 degree) area have also been affected, and some old houses have been damaged.
The outstanding feature of this earthquake is that the geological disasters caused by the earthquake are many and extremely serious, resulting in a large number of casualties, damage to buildings and infrastructure, and the lifeline of roads, communications, water supply and power supply has been interrupted in many places. Experts agree that preventive measures and awareness should be further strengthened in areas with frequent geological disasters.
