Chinese has finally appeared in the Star Wars series, and this time it’s not one, it’s not "playing soy sauce". Jiang Wen and Donnie Yen, as the most appealing stars in China at present, also appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which will be released on January 6th next year. Yesterday, the film held its premiere in the Water Cube. Talking about the reasons for taking the film, the two stars also said that they took the film at the request and encouragement of their children, and they were "cool dads" in their children’s hearts.
Jiang Wen found the feeling of filming at school.
"Grand Theft Auto I" is the first independent story in the Star Wars series. The story happened before the later Jedi knights appeared. A group of warriors gathered together and planned to steal the design of the imperial weapons of mass destruction "Death Star". The film is directed by gareth edwards, the director of Godzilla. Felicity jones, diego luna, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, mads mikkelsen, etc.
Jiang Wen plays weapons expert Bates Mabus in the film. He has long hair and carries a heavy submachine gun. In the film, he didn’t believe in the "Force" at first, but only believed in the weapons in his hand. A reporter commented that Jiang Wen’s role was "the cosmic version of Zhang Mazi", and Zhang Mazi was Jiang Wen’s role in Let the Bullets Fly. "I think he’s right. I don’t object." Jiang Wen answered with a smile.
Talking about the filming process, Jiang Wen said that he was very happy, and the biggest feeling was that he found the feeling of "no distractions" when filming in Chinese opera school. However, when Mr. Jiang was stood up on the set, he once went to the scene to shoot at 4 am, and the filming didn’t start until 4 pm.
Jiang Wen’s greatest sense of accomplishment comes from his children. His son has been asking to attend the premiere. "I suddenly became cool in the hearts of children." Regarding the role played by Jiang Wen, diego luna, the leading actor, said that Bates, played by Jiang Wen, was a warm man and middle-aged uncle. "I really want to hug him."
Because Jiang Wen is busy filming his new film "Xia Yin", yesterday’s premiere was the only publicity activity he participated in recently. "People always say that I am a villain, but I really have something to do." When Donnie Yen said "welcome" to the foreign star, Jiang Wen interrupted: "(Beijing) is not your home, it is our home." He revealed that it was the winter solstice, and after the premiere, the actors would be invited to eat jiaozi together.
Donnie Yen designed the role of the blind for himself.
"I have played so many plays, and only this time the child strongly asked me to take him to the premiere." Donnie Yen said that, with the encouragement of her children, she also served as the piano accompaniment of the China version of the promotion song "The Faith of Decisiveness" sung by Jam Hsiao. Donnie Yen plays a blind monk, Qilu Yingwei, who is skilled in martial arts. Donnie Yen revealed that the original design of this role was not blind, but after communicating with the director, he thought that this character would be "more interesting" if it had physical defects. This is also the first time that he plays a blind person. He has to wear contact lenses during the filming. After wearing them, he finds that he is "more painful than expected". He has to take them off every three hours and rest for 20 minutes. The glasses also affect his visual communication with other actors. "I can’t see clearly, which affects eye contact and can’t find a reaction point. I underestimated the difficulty of playing a blind person."
Director Edwards said that "Grand Theft Auto 1" is a brand-new independent story, and it will be a great success if the audience comes home after watching it and is interested in watching the Star Wars series again.
Edwards wants Grand Theft Auto 1 to have a rough sense of reality in style, just like his directorial debut Monster. "I want this film to look more natural, realistic and vivid, just like a real world."
