As an in-vehicle system released by Apple, the core of CarPlay is to connect the iPhone and the car models supporting the system (specific models can be found on Apple official website), so that users can still conveniently use various smart phone functions while driving. Map navigation, including lane-level navigation, as the core application in the driving process, has therefore become one of the focuses of Apple’s official promotion of CarPlay.
As early as last year, when the high-tech lane-level navigation was fully launched, the CarPlay system was already supported. Users only need to connect vehicles supporting CarPlay system with iPhone before driving, turn on the Gaode Map APP on the vehicle screen and the lane-level navigation switch in mobile navigation settings, and they can experience the refined guidance of Gaode lane-level navigation on urban expressways and highway sections (currently supporting iPhone 8 Plus and above).
The biggest change of CarPlay version of Gaode lane-level navigation is that it adapts to a larger car screen, which makes Gaode lane-level navigation, which has already restored road information in high definition, have a more intuitive visual experience.
It should be pointed out that since all current iPhone models do not support lane-level high-precision positioning, the CarPlay version of lane-level navigation also corresponds to the high-definition version of Gaode lane-level navigation-this version aims to continue to provide users with more detailed navigation guidance services under the condition of limited positioning accuracy.
Next generation navigation with continuous evolution
Not long ago, with the upgrade of the iPhone version of Gaode Map to the new version of V11.13, the lane-level navigation of CarPlay version also ushered in an update.
Specifically, the first is the further expansion of the visual field distance. When the new version of Gaode lane-level navigation is activated, the visual field distance is increased by about 30%, which enables users to know the road conditions at the far distance more clearly when navigating.
In addition, toll station guidance has been added nationwide in the new version, which makes the high-speed and urban expressway in Gaode lane-level navigation closer to reality and helps users get clearer guidance in the process of entering and leaving toll stations.
It is reported that as the first future-oriented next-generation navigation product promoted by Gaode Map in the smart phone industry, lane-level navigation can use high-definition rendering technology to restore the real road scene to the maximum extent on the screen, including the number of lanes of the current road, ground signs and markings, entrances and exits, special lanes, etc.
For the aircraft supporting high-precision positioning, the sub-meter high-precision positioning technology of Beidou system can also be applied, and the positioning accuracy can be evolved from the road level of 5-10 meters to the lane level within 1 meter after fusion and calculation.
Up to now, Gaode lane-level navigation supporting high-precision positioning has covered urban expressways and high-speed sections in Suzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Tianjin and Chengdu, and supports Huawei P40 series, P50 series, Mate 40 series, Mate X series, nova 8 Pro, Glory 30 Pro, Glory 30 Pro+, Glory V40, OPPO Find N and some models of Xiaomi (the above models are used)
For other mainstream models in the market (such as iPhone and its matching CarPlay models), or users whose cities have not yet supported lane-level high-precision positioning, Gaode Map has also launched a high-definition version of lane-level navigation, which provides them with high-quality navigation guidance services on national highways and urban expressways.
